Your Church This Week!
“Would You Like Ice Cream with Your Prelude?”
Isolation requires that we have to cancel our traditional Ice Cream Social and Gospel Hymn Sing. Booooo! So, we’ll just have to find a way to celebrate that tradition together while apart. Each Sunday in August, I will be playing an arrangement of a gospel hymn for the prelude. I’d like to suggest that 11 am is not too early to have a little ice cream! Have a small “ice cream toast” to the beauty and inspiration of our traditional gospel musical heritage. I’ll probably shed a few tears because I will be missing you all so much, but that is part of the beauty.
Seeking Sunday School Teachers!
It is virtually time to begin a new Sunday School year so I am seeking teachers, teams of teachers, squads of teachers, gaggles of…well, you get the picture.
If you are interested or would like to suggest a topic or teacher, please email your CHPC Adult Sunday School Coordinator at btoddr@gmail.com
Teachers are not required to have a licensed Zoom account. The church will provide.
Not surprisingly CHPC Adult Sunday School, has always addressed topics such as social justice, hunger, spiritual care, and other relevant issues of the day. Now the time is crucial for us to come together to create a better world.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Peace and Grace,
Nurture Council Welcomes Debbie Dierks!
Your Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church Nurture Council welcomes Debbie Dierks as she bridges the gap until the newly formed Personnel Committed develops an updated job description and hires a new Director of Faith Formation for Children and Youth. Debbie is ideally suited for this interim role given her relationships with our children and youth and her history with CHPC and its families. Don’t be surprised if she calls you to help. In fact, start by praying about it now so you are ready to answer when the phone rings. Better yet, if you feel called to be active in the lives of our children or youth, give her a call, send her an email, take the initiative.
Nurture Council has pledged its support of Debbie’s work and ministry as she balances these new duties. Pledge yourself to our future as well. Not sure what is needed? We have someone you can talk to Debbie Dierks. Debbie can be reached by email or phone at (502)396-6803.
Calling All Artists: We need art to enhance our online worship!
The Worship Council invites artists of all ages to email pictures of their artwork to Faith at office@crescenthill.church. Please include your name and a description and/or title of each piece. The art will be used with online devotionals as well as weekly worship services.
Pastor of the Week
During the week of July 13th – 19th, Roger will be on vacation. Our Pastor of the Week will be Gary Cook. If you need any assistance contact Gary at (502)602-1462 or by email at revgarycook@gmail.com.

Adult Sunday School
During the month of July, Shannon Craigo-Snell will lead discussions about becoming an ally and conspirator for justice. The material will be based on her book, No Innocent Bystanders: Becoming an Ally in the Struggle for Justice, co-authored with Christopher Doucot. It is not necessary to purchase the book! Sunday morning conversations will address the theology of justice work, the virtues of conspiring for justice, concrete steps to take, and role models to follow. For inveterate readers, the book is available at Carmichael’s and WJKbooks.com, but again, not necessary.

What Can We Do?
Very often during times of crisis we wonder what, if anything, we can do. The Dean of Louisville Seminary, Debra J. Mumford has started a Padlet (electronic bulletin board with active links) that showcases actions we are each able to take to help realize social justice in the worldhttps://padlet.com/dmumford2/6mlyz480kr9e1wrk.
Deacon of the Month: July
