Adult Sunday School Class on COVID-19 and Hunger
Long lines at food banks, school busses delivering meals and pop-up food pantries have become regular staples of the evening news. Growing hunger – in the U.S. and around the world – is a one dimension of the suffering caused by COVID-19 pandemic. In this three session class, we will look at the extent of this hunger, the responses to it, and the call for a better federal government response.  We will explore a letter that Christian leaders have sent to members of Congress and consider our own message to our Senators and Representatives, culminating on May 24 with our annual – and now virtual – Bread for the World Offering of Letters.
Click here to join the class on Sunday at 9:45AM or dial in by phone by calling 1-646-558-8656, Meeting ID: 823 3399 2159.

Guatemala partnership: From reunion to relief
Crescent Hill church has canceled/postponed the July 2020 Guatemala visit. At this point, Guatemala continues to ban people from other countries from coming into Guatemala, to keep the virus out.
Instead, CHPC is in the process of sending the second of two $1,500 transfers to our partner presbytery, the Q’eqchi’ Estoreño Izabal Presbytery.  The money is a mix of church budget money and funds that were raised for the visit (thanks for your generosity!).
The presbytery has been using that money to buy and deliver groceries to each of some dozen congregations in the presbytery. The congregations are in turn distributing the food to people in their congregation.
Guatemala is locked down even more severely than Kentuckiana is and people are not able to work from home and have little savings and the government is providing no aid. For that reason, our partners and many others there face serious food insecurity challenges, since they have no money to buy food.
Crescent Hill church and Estoreño Presbytery continue to pray with and for each other.
Give to the Pentecost Offering
By giving to the Pentecost Offering, you help provide opportunities for children and young people to grow in faith. A foundation of faith established during childhood helps ensure lifelong faith and service. The Pentecost Offering, one of four special offerings of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), supports:
*Young Adult Volunteers (YAV) serving in communities around the world and growing as leaders through transformative
*Christian service Ministries with youth
*Education and safe havens for children at risk
The offering is collected on or before Pentecost Sunday, May 31. You may give online or mail a check to the church. Please give generously!
Do you have a face mask?
Masks to aid in protecting yourself and others are available for anyone in need. We have several volunteer creative people making masks: Joanne Cybulski, Sandra Duverge, Stephanie Gregory, Gayle DeMarsh, Kim Aycock, and Claudia Foulkes. We have had some requests for child size masks so those will be available as well.
If you would like a mask please contact Perry Chang or Claudia Foulkes. We are doing our best to deliver those to you or you can pick them up at your convenience.
Please continue to visit the CHPC website to stay connected with our faith community!
