Call to WorshipLeader: Praise the One Whose Steadfast Love Endures Forever! Who can speak God’s mighty works or fully declare God’s praise?Happy are the ones who do justice and righteousness at all times. (Psalm 106:1-3)
All:Remember us, O God, when you enjoy your people, include us when you save them.We want to see your children succeed,We want to join the Hallelujahs of your pride and joy! (Psalm 106:4-5)
Leader: Rejoice in the One Whose Steadfast Love Endures Forever! Let us worship God!  Call to Confession “Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God”Prayer of Confession (from Psalm 106)Merciful God, we confess that we, like our ancestors, have sinned. We forget your amazing works and we don’t live into your steadfast love for ourselves or our neighbors. We get caught up in ourselves and don’t remember you. Like those who came before us, we grumble and we don’t obey you. We forget to be grateful for your presence with us and fail to sing your praise. We fulfill our desires rather than seeking your will. Save us, O Lord our God, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. Amen. (invite all to take a few moments for silent reflection.)
Assurance of PardonLeader: God hears our prayer, shows compassion, and offers us an abundance of steadfast love. All: In Jesus Christ we rejoice that we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.Amen.

Adult Sunday School
Join us this Sunday for the first of three Sunday School sessions with the Coalition of Immokolee Workers. We will recall CHPC support for the CIW, beginning with the Taco Bell boycott and continuing over nearly 20 years. We will learn about how the Fair Food Movement has grown and what a worker-led movement for justice looks like. The series will also give us a chance to discuss what it has meant for CHPC to be an ally in this movement.

Missing your Fair-Trade coffee, tea, and chocolates?
Because our church building has been closed during the pandemic, the coffee and other items that were available for purchase in the narthex are being donated to United Crescent Hill Ministries. But don’t go without your coffee! You can purchase a large variety of Fair Trade items, including coffee, at Just Creations, 2722 Frankfort Avenue, near the church. The store is open for in-person shopping. Or you may call 502-897-7319 for curbside pickup or visit their online store at just.creations.org
Mark Your Calendars!
We will be having a Taize Healing & Peace Service on Wednesday, October 21 at 7 pm via Zoom. More info will be coming soon.
Gift of Photos
Over the last several months, we have been using quite a few of Bruce Whearty’s photos in our services. If you would like to receive one or two new nature photos by email each day, please feel free to send Bruce an email at dr.bruce.whearty@gmail.com and ask to be added to his email list.
For You, Parents of Young Children!
If that’s who you are, you already know that parenting is never easy and it has become much more difficult in this time of social distancing, mask wearing, virtual education, and working from home.
Crescent Hill can’t make it easy, but we can be part of helping you connect with others facing the same challenges of parenting during the Pandemic. WE ARE NOT ASKING YOU TO DO ANYTHING EXCEPT BE PART OF AN OCCASIONAL ZOOM GROUP MEETING. It will be a time to connect to other CHPC-ers who have kids and to be part of supporting each other and being supported.A facilitator will contact you to be part of an exploratory meeting to think together about the possibility of convening a small group or two by Zoom, and what such a group could offer to you so that you can be supportive to each other.
Meetings will be scheduled by mutual agreement to be as convenient as possible for as many people as possible. The first meeting will be in early to mid-October.Interested? Let Faith Grady in the church office know by October 15. You can email her at office@crescenthill.church.
What Can We Do?
Very often during times of crisis we wonder what, if anything, we can do. The Dean of Louisville Seminary, Debra J. Mumford has started a Padlet (electronic bulletin board with active links) that showcases actions we are each able to take to help realize social justice in the worldhttps://padlet.com/dmumford2/6mlyz480kr9e1wrk.
