Congregational Input for the Pastor
In addition to the more focused review process, we want to invite you as a congregation to share your thoughts, feelings, and ideas about Roger’s work with us in a deeper way. While this is not specifically a part of the personnel review process, we would love your input, and so want to hear from you. We will share this information with Roger and the Session to strengthen our understanding of each other and grow closer in community.
The survey will remain open through Sunday, February 7th. In the spirit of transparency, love, and direct communication, anonymous responses will not be shared. Please include your name at the end of the survey where requested. All responses will be kept confidential by the committee and Session.

Souper Sunday and Beyond
From the desk of Mark Howell, Executive Director of UCHM.
Thank you for your email and the many ways Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church has partnered and supported UCHM throughout the years. We realize it is a challenging time for congregations due to restrictions and safety measures keeping them from meeting in person. However, we are still serving food to our neighbors struggling to make ends meet and always willing to accept donations from congregations and individuals to help us serve their needs. Our office is open Monday through Friday from 9 to 4, and we are happy to accept donations during those hours. If you want to let us know when you will be dropping off the food, we will happy to unload it from your vehicle. The best place to drop off would be the rear entrance at the covered door. We have an intercom at that door to let us know you have arrived.
We will accept any non-perishable food items. The highest need items are:Peanut butterTunaChickenSoupPastaSpaghetti SauceBeansRiceMac and CheeseSpaghetti-osCereal/OatmealCooking oilFlourPersonal Care items (Soap, Shampoo, Deodorant, Toothpaste, Laundry Detergent)
Thank you so much for reaching out and remembering our neighbors in need during these challenging days. Please feel free to email or call if you have any further questions.
Grace and Peace,

This Week’s Youth and Adult Sunday School
This Sunday is the last week of our Zoom class discussing the book , Acts of Faith, by Eboo Patel. You are welcome to visit with each other at 9:30 a.m. or sign on at 9:45 a.m. when class begins. Youth, young adults, and older adults are learning a lot about the challenges and opportunities facing youth and young adults today. Patel’s experiences of growing up Muslim in America and becoming a prominent interfaith leader provide eye-opening suggestions for all faith communities. Even if you have not been with us earlier this month, please come this Sunday as we discuss the relevance of Patel’s ideas for this new time at CHPC. You might Google Eboo Patel or his organization, Interfaith Youth Core for up-to-date information on his work.
If you would like to buy a copy of the book, Carmichael’s is holding some under Soni Castleberry’s name. There is a 20% discount on the $22 book.Topic: Adult Sunday SchoolTime: Jan 24, 2021 09:30 AM Eastern Time (US and Canada)

Sunday School February 2021 – Exploring the Juvenile Justice System

Youth and adults are meeting together on Zoom for Sunday school in February. You are welcome to visit with each other at 9:30 or sign on at 9:45 a.m. when class begins.
We are all aware of the heart-breaking, ever-rising violence among young people in our community. Additionally, we all agree that “something needs to change”. In February we delve into what that “something” should be, specifically within our juvenile justice system.

Congregation member and Juvenile Public Defender Eric Proctor will educate on the current juvenile justice system and facilitate discussion addressing the following:
When, if ever, should children be incarcerated? And for how long?At what age should a child become an adult in the justice system? Should children ever be prosecuted as adults? Can the school to prison pipeline be disrupted? How?What roles do the following play: access to guns, race, poverty? What can the community do, outside of prosecution, to rehabilitate delinquent children? Finally, how does our faith as Christians, as CHPCers, and as a Matthew 25 congregation shape this conversation?
